The dark angel...

Mia Kirshner, star of such movies as Exotica, Love and Human Remains, and The Crow: City of Angels, has not gotten the attention she deserves...until now. This web site is dedicated to the most phenomenal, under-recognized actress today. Born and raised in Toronto, Mia was the daughter of a journalist father and a teacher mother. Since she was a child, she dreamed of being an actress, and took the dream seriously enough to make her professional acting debut at age 12 as an extra in the movie The Freshman. However, she didn't want to blend into the background forever, so she immediately hired an agent and took the next step.

No stranger to unusual projects and roles, Mia has played an exotic dancer in Atom Egoyan's critically acclaimed Exotica, a dominatrix with clairvoyant powers in the Canadian film, Love and Human Remains, and a tattoo artist who inhabits a nightmarish underground where illusionary life and death walk hand in hand, her recent hit, The Crow: City of Angels.

After seeing her movies, people expect Mia to be a leather-clad dominatrix, chain-smoking cigarettes. But in the flesh, what you get is a very tasteful, very self-possessed 20-year old who gets terribly shy about discussing guys. However, as all of her fans have to admit, she demonstrates the qualities of a great actress. Her largest screen roles to date have been entirely out of character for her, playing young women with a strong predilection for the kinkier side of life. In preparation for her role as Sarah in the new Crow movie, she experienced some "real wild stuff". She went into a lot of tattoo shops, got into things like body piercings, and researched S&M clubs. "I felt it was important that I see everything Sarah would see and encounter in the world of the Crow."

Well, so far, this is all of the information that i have found on this young starlet. If anyone finds out anything else, please feel free to mail me and let me know. I'd appreciate any constructive suggections to make this page the perfect tribute that Mia deserves. Look for more on these pages in the weeks to come.

...And, if the lovely Mia Kirshner herself happens upon this page, i would consider myself to be very honored. I loved your performance in every movie i've seen of yours. Some are proving to be very hard to find, but mark my words, i'll find them someday. Thank you so much for just being...well, phenomenal.

Links somewhat related to Mia, these appear to be increasing in number:
